Prithvi Theatre is a 200-seat playhouse in Juhu and one of the best-known addresses in Indian theatre. It was built by the actor Shashi Kapoor and his wife Jennifer Kapoor in memory of his father, Prithviraj Kapoor, whose travelling company Prithvi Theatres toured India from 1944, and it opened on 5 November 1978. The architect Ved Segan designed the auditorium around a thrust stage with the audience on three sides,
Seating is first come, first served and the house is small, so arrive early and join the queue. Latecomers are traditionally not admitted once a play begins; plan for Juhu traffic. The theatre is closed on Mondays. The box office is open from the afternoon on other days.
