Ram Ganesh Gadkari Rangayatan is Thane's best-known theatre, a municipal auditorium on Dr Moose Road beside Masunda Lake, popularly called Talao Pali. Named after the Marathi playwright and poet Ram Ganesh Gadkari, it has been the city's home of Marathi theatre for decades and is run by the Thane Municipal Corporation. It was closed for renovation for about ten months and was reopened on 15 August 2025 with modernise

It is a 15-minute walk from Thane station through the old market area; autos are quick but the lanes jam in the evening. Marathi plays run at set slots through the day at weekends; check the time on your ticket. The lakefront outside is crowded on festival mornings such as Diwali Pahat and Gudi Padwa, when traffic around Talao Pali is restricted.
