About Mehboob Studios
Mehboob Studios is a working film and recording studio in Bandra West, founded in 1954 by the director Mehboob Khan, who made Mother India here in 1957. It is spread over about 4.2 acres near Mount Mary and has five shooting stages; Guru Dutt's Kaagaz Ke Phool and Dev Anand's Guide were also filmed on its floors. Since 2010, when one of its stages housed Anish Kapoor's first exhibition in India, the studio has doubled as an arts and events venue. The Mahindra Blues Festival was first held here in February 2011 and returned most recently on 14–15 February 2026, and the culture festival IFP uses the studio for its sixteenth season on 24–25 October 2026.
