About National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai
The National Gallery of Modern Art, Mumbai is the city branch of the national modern-art museum, administered by the Government of India's Ministry of Culture. It opened to the public in 1996 in the Sir Cowasji Jehangir Public Hall, a former public hall near Regal Cinema on the southern edge of Kala Ghoda. Rather than a fixed permanent display, it stages changing exhibitions drawn from the national collection and from visiting shows. In autumn 2026 it is showing 'Satish Gujral: The Modernist Returns', listed from 9 October to 20 November with free entry. Its auditorium hosts talks and film screenings and is one of the venues of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival.
