The home of the Hindi film industry has a film culture well beyond the multiplex. The Mumbai Academy of Moving Image (MAMI) cancelled its 2025 festival while it restructured and had not published dates for a full 2026 edition at the time of writing, but its year-round programme has continued, including a weekly series of Indian independent films at PVR Lido in Juhu that began in February 2026. The government's Mumbai International Film Festival for documentary, short and animation films held its 19th edition on 15–21 June 2026. Elsewhere, the NCPA and G5A screen world cinema and documentaries, the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival has a cinema section, and IFP brings filmmakers and creators to Mehboob Studios on 24–25 October 2026. Film clubs, open-air screenings and filmmaker talks appear across Bandra, Andheri and Versova. This page lists them.
