About Horniman Circle Garden
Horniman Circle Garden is a circular public garden in the Fort district, ringed by a crescent of nineteenth-century commercial buildings and facing the Asiatic Society's Town Hall. St Thomas Cathedral, the first Anglican church in Mumbai, completed in 1718, stands beside it. The garden is a regular outdoor stage: it hosts the Sufi and mystic music festival Ruhaniyat and is one of the venues of the Kala Ghoda Arts Festival, when music and dance concerts are held on its lawns. On ordinary days it is a quiet lunchtime park for office-goers. It is named after Benjamin Horniman, the editor of the Bombay Chronicle who supported Indian independence.
